Rob Roy Farm
From mid December, providing there is enough snow, until April, Doug Nixon and his staff will energize you with dog sled rides you are sure to remember. The rides are ˝ hour. Adult costs are $65.00 and kids are $45.00. They will entertain birthday parties if you so wish. Rob Roy Farms also has a school educational program which consists of Snowshoeing, Building Snow Shelters and Dog Sledding. It’s all about outdoor winter survival. Groups of 10 or more will receive a $5.00 discount per person.
They use 4 husky dogs to pull a sled and 1 rider. Kids can do this without any problem. They supervise the action. Some teams are faster than others; usual speed is approximately 15-20km per hour. Photos are a big part of the action as well as for ‘bragging rights’ of show and tell. The barn cafe is available for meals for schools and corporate groups. Live music is possible for corporate groups.
No waivers signed but people must reserve their times. Hot refreshments can be had in the Barn Café. What was once a survival mode of transportation in the great North has now become family entertainment which is unique and certainly close by. They are located at 469358 Grey Rd. 31. They can be reached at 519-922-2706. Ask for Doug Dixon. |
